Staff members of Cornejo | Day Funeral Home are caring, experienced professionals who understand that each family is unique and has personal requests and traditions. These requests and traditions are of utmost importance to our staff of licensed funeral directors.

Tytus L. Cornejo Owner, Funeral Director, Embalmer, Crematory Operator

Tytus was born and raised in Wellington, Kansas, the son of Joyce (Burden) and the late Ralph Cornejo. Following his graduation from Wellington High School, Tytus attended Cowley College in Arkansas City, Kansas. While there he worked at the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home. Tytus then transferred to the Kansas City Kansas School of Mortuary Science and was a 2003 graduate. Since then he has helped in all aspects of the funeral home by managing multiple branches of the business in several communities and in 2009 assuming the daily operation of the business. Tytus and his wife, April, finalized the purchase of the business in 2013. He feels very fortunate in being able to offer his services and care to the community he has been a part of all his life. Tytus and April live in the funeral home residence with their children: Maizy, Ralphie, Sophie, Benny and Rosie. They are members of the First Free Will Baptist Church in Wellington, Kansas. In addition, Tytus is a board member of the Wellington Lions Club and enjoys volunteering his time with iniatives that help and serve Wellington and its citizens.

Mandi Zimmerman Office Administrator

Whether you call our office or walk through the front door, Mandi will likely be the first person you encounter. She began her time at the funeral home by assisting in the evenings and in 2016 made the move to our full-time office administrator. Mandi's background in office adminstration coupled with her sweet-nature and eagerness to help others will be a great benefit to the families served at Cornejo|Day Funeral Home & Crematory.

Cheryl Heimer Funeral and Visitation Assistant

Following her retirement from Star Lumber, Cheryl joined the funeral home as an evening secretary and eventually transitioned to our full-time office secretary. She joined her husband, John, in retirement in 2016 and is enjoying time with her grandchildren and family. Cheryl is now back to evenings and funeral services where her kind heart and friendliness are helping the many families of Cornejo|Day Funeral Home & Crematory.

Garnett Craig Visitation Secretary

Garnett has been with Cornejo|Day Funeral Home & Crematory since our opening in 1999. If you are planning on coming to the funeral home for an evening visitation then plan on meeting Garnett. Always kind and always polite, she helps to ensure that your evening at the funeral home is as smooth as possible.

Shirley Shinliver Evening Secretary | Funeral Assistant

When someone passes away from the Argonia community, Shirley always makes herself available to assist the funeral home and the family in the days leading up to the service. She is as positive and upbeat as they come and has been very instrumental in allowing our funeral home to maintain a presence in the Argonia community. Shirley has been with our funeral home for over 10 years and we look forward to many more.

Brad Ewing Funeral Home Assistant

Many people in our community know Brad from his time spent at the cable office, his family's electronic store or setting up audio equipment at vatious events around town. With his addition to our staff, many are getting to know him in a different aspect. To know Brad is to know that he is kind hearted, approachable and would do anything to help. Qualities that have served him well in the past and will help him serve the families that call on Cornejo|Day Funeral Home & Crematory.

Sherman Kelsey Funeral Home Assistant

Sherman and his wife, Wanda, moved to Wellington in 2014 from Kingman, Kansas. Sherman is familiar with the funeral industry as he was employed at a funeral home prior to living in Wellington. From a good story to a good joke, Sherman's amiable nature has a way of putting folks at ease. He has been a fine addititon to both our community and to Cornejo|Day Funeral Home & Crematory.

Bryce Day Founder and Former Owner

Bryce was born and raised in Wellington, the son of Betty and the late Bob Day. A graduate of Wellington High School, he served in the United States Navy during the Viet Nam War. After returning back to Wellington he went to Wichita State University and then to Kansas City Kansas College of Mortuary Science. He has been a licensed funeral director and embalmer since 1977. Bryce opened the Day Funeral Home in 1999 and operated the business until 2009 when unforeseen health issues required him to minimize his role. In 2012, Bryce retired from the Day Funeral Home & Crematory. Following a nearly two year battle with pancreatic cancer, Bryce passed away on July 21, 2017. He spent his entire life in service to others and will be greatly missed.
